PR and politics

A lot of political communication goes on behind closed doors - a BBC report questions the role of lobbyists at party conferences.  I think it's unfair that Mr Wheeler lumps in cause groups and charities with commercial lobbyists including tobacco and fur merchants, but the list of companies and their PR techniques is revealing.  Whether party conferences were ever "meant to be festivals of democracy and political debate" is another matter.
