Communication through publicity..

EDL supporters marched through east London

I found an article about the EDL's recent march in Tower Hamlets which created a lot of media attention through not only the break-outs of violence between the EDL and the counter-demonstration, but also the arrest of the EDL leader Tommy Robinson.

Even though the EDL recieve little to no good publicity through the media, they are still getting free advertising about their organisation by creating waves in newspapers, radio and television. Even due to the huge police response, more attention was drawn to them and their march.

In this case, the march worked in their favour, with 150 counter-protesters being arrested. So even though the EDL leader was arrested, they will most likely see this demonstration as a victory.
