The gas drilling company Cuadrilla has dedicated a large section of its website to 'Protecting Our Environment', where it explains why their wells are safer than those in the US that have cause groundwater contamination and gas leaks.
This is not because the environment is a priority for them, but because of the prominent activities of protesters unconvinced by the case for fracking, who organise under the umbrella network of Frack Off.
On the BBC, the protesters have gained some attention for their arguments in stories where the company have pulled out of an area where they had been exploring, whilst in others, the lead angle is defined by Cuardilla, especially in terms of the potential value of the untapped gas resource.
